literacy_reading-optHave you ever thought of learning life lessons through literature?  Human emotions and life lessons are not a topics on the traditional Language Arts curriuculum, but during the past decade, researchers have found “evidence of the impact social-and-emotional-learning (SEL).”  The idea is to marry academic skills with social skills though discussing themes and lessons in literature.  Imagine classroom extension exercises that pair up students after a literature piece and have them solve problems like running away from home, or solving relationship issues?  Good literature will have a way at always touching our soul, but imagine if it could also solve social issues with youth as well!
